Tone character

Savarez 500CR Corum is the traditional French Rectified Nylon classical — warmer and more forgiving than Alliance composite trebles, softer attack than Hannabach. The student-to-intermediate concert string, bridging budget nylon and premium composite options. Classic Savarez warmth with approachable playability.

Best for

Classical students and intermediate players. Players finding Alliance too bright or hard to control. Traditional repertoire (Spanish romantic, French) where warmth matters more than projection. Budget-conscious classical performers.

Durability

Standard Rectified Nylon lifespan — 2-3 months before tonal fatigue. Shorter than Alliance but longer than real gut. Silver-plated basses provide solid 3-4 month life.

Climate notes

Traditional Nylon humidity response — more sensitive than composite alternatives. Players in tropical climates may prefer Alliance 500AJ for stability.

    • Thanks for this comparison. I use both these strings. The EJ46's on my spruce top classical and the 500CJ's on my cedar top classical. I find they are the perfect balance with the different soundboards. Oh and THANK YOU for also actually playing classical pieces for this demonstration and not some overly used blues rif
